Jane Couroussopoulos
meet the artist…
Jane trained as a painter and is currently concentrating on mixed media drawing. Her work explores the tension between organic and man-made structures, and in the representation of urban and rural spaces emptied of people but with human intervention present. The shrines, churches and still lifes in her current work are born of a fascination with the way religious structures, individual and communal, and religious themes, punctuate our environment and culture.
Alongside her own practice, she teaches at Leith School of Art and as a community Education tutor for Edinburgh City Council.
